About the Stone

Lapis lazuli has been valued for thousands of years for jewelry, carving, and pigment. Historically sourced from Afghanistan, a significant deposit was later discovered in the Chilean Andes in the Ovalle region, establishing Chile as an important modern source.

Today, natural Chilean lapis is shaped and finished by hand in small studio settings and offered from the United States as part of an ongoing Chilean–American workshop tradition.

Artist & Founder

Luciana Celis was a Chilean–American artist who founded Chile’s first dedicated lapis lazuli workshop. Trained in New York, she spent decades designing jewelry and carved stone objects using natural Chilean lapis lazuli.

Working alongside artisans she trained, she developed original studio designs rooted in traditional lapidary and metalwork techniques rather than factory production.

Today, Lapis Lazuli House presents a selection from her studio collection, preserved and distributed in the United States.
